Big Mike

I don't know how many of you have seen the movie The Blind Side, but I HIGHLY recommend it.  It's about a family taking in a kid off the streets.  The kid is a large black boy and eventually gets drafted into the NFL, his name is Michael Oher.

This story behind it is amazing.  Every time I watch this movie I think about how I want my own "Big Mike" (as they call him in the movie).  In the movie, Michael comes from a broken home, his mom does crack and he really has no place to live.  After the family takes Michael in, he becomes more social, gets good grades and starts becoming an amazing athlete.  To change one person's life like that would be remarkable.

Now, I'm not saying to put yourself in harm's way and take a homeless person off the streets.  But, when you see a homeless person, think about where they have been and why they have gotten there.  I always try to do that because homelessness is such a huge problem.  They don't ALL do drugs and steal, some are just down on their luck.  At least, that's what I believe.

  2. I feel like homelessness is a lot more common than people think. I hate it.

  3. I LOVE that movie! The little brother is just so darn cute! But I agree, just walking downtown Cleveland you can see how many homeless people there are. It's good to know that there are people out there that care!
